A two-day-long workshop on Minimum Tillage Unpuddled Rice Transplanting (MTURT) began at the auditorium of Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) in the city yesterday.
Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Shyamal Kanti Ghosh was the chief guest in the inaugural session of the workshop. BRRI Director (Admin and common service) Dr M Shahjahan Kabir presided over the inaugural session while Greg Wilcock, Australian High Commissioner to Bangladesh was the guest of honour.
Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) Dr Abul Kalam Azad, Director General of Department of Agricultural Extension Md Hamidur Rahman, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute Director General Md Rafiqul Islam, Bangladesh Agricultural University Director Dr Lutful Hassan, Dr Richard W Bell, Murdoch University, Australia and Dr Paul Fox, Country Representative, IRRI, Bangladesh were present. The Keynote Paper of the workshop presented by Prof Dr Richard W Bell, Murdoch University of Australia.
The workshop jointly organised by Bangladesh Rice Research Institute, Bangladesh Agricultural University , International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre, International Rice Research Institute and Murdoch University, Australia with the funding from Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research.
