Canadian University marks its 2nd year

Canadian University of Bangladesh reached a special milestone – 2 years of groundbreaking ideas and achievements that continue to transform the higher education in Bangladesh. To mark the two years’ journey, the university hosted a dinner at a hotel in the capital in honour of all the stakeholders on Saturday, says a press release.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Canadian High Commissioner Benoit Préfontaine, State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Dr Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat, Founder and Chairman, Board of Trustees of Canadian University of Bangladesh and eminent academicians, policy makers, writers, chief executives of law enforcing agencies and media representatives participated in this programme.

Prof MA Arafat, chief advisor to the Board of Trustees of Canadian University of Bangladesh, Prof Emeritus Dr AK Azad, Honorary Advisor, Shahnul Hasan Khan, Executive Chairman, Prof Dr Mahfuzul Islam, Vice-Chancellor, Brig Gen Md Asaduzzaman Subhani (retd), registrar and dignitaries from ministries and government agencies, corporate world, academia, faculties and students of Canadian University of Bangladesh were also present in this event.

Four new blocks, temple inaugurated at RU Matihar Hall

RAJSHAHI:  The newly-built four new blocks and a temple have been inaugurated at the Matihar Hall of Rajshahi University to provide more facilities for the hall’s residential students.

RU vice-chancellor Prof  M Abdus Sobhan inaugurated the newly built blocks and temple at the hall on Saturday evening around 6:30 pm. Later, an inaugural ceremony held at the hall dining room where Professor M Abdus Sobhan addressed as chief guest. RU pro-vice chancellor Prof Ananda Kuamra Saha, pro-vice chancellor Choudhury M Zakaria and RU Puja Celebration Committee president Prof Kamal Krishna Biswas addressed the ceremony as special guests with the hall provost Prof Md Ali Asgar in the chair.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, vice chancellor Prof M Abdus Sobhan said that they were trying to provide as much facilities as they can to the students of the university to improve their academic and extracurricular activities.

Emphasizing upholding the tradition of the university, he also urged the students to play a greater role in building a developed country promoting the spirit of the Liberation War and free thinking. Among others, hall’s former provost Prof Chitta Ranjan Misra, geology and mining department Prof Mrinal Kanti Roy, hall’s house tutor Prof Nuruzzaman, marketing department masters’ student Md Sabbir Hossain, among others, spoke at the inaugural ceremony.
