Kishoreganj: A patient died after suffering a panic attack as a fire broke out at the blood bank of Kishoreganj 250-bed Hospital early yesterday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Begum, 26.
Hospital sources said the fire originated from a refrigerator of the blood bank at the Pathology Department around 5am.
It burned down three refrigerators used for preserving blood, one air-conditioner, one microscope, two fans, two beds, necessary papers and furniture of the room.
A panicky situation was created among the patients and their relatives following the fire.
Begum, who gave birth to a baby boy on Tuesday through a caesarean section, died while the patients were being evacuated from the hospital. On information, a firefighting team rushed in and doused the fire after a two-hour frantic effort.
