Thakurgaon district unit of Bangladesh Chemists and Druggists Association (BCDA) went on a strike on Tuesday evening deman-ding release of the owner of a drugstore in the town.
Sources said officials of Department of Narcotics Control yesterday morning arrested Tulen Chandra, owner of Sourav Medical Hall, for selling G-PETHIDINE, an injection used for drug addiction.
Following the incident, the district unit of BCDA pressed for immediate release of Tulen Chandra.
However, as the administration refused to release the arrested medicine seller, all his fellows belonging to the association shut down their businesses in the town around 6pm, creating immense suffering for the medicine buyers. Officer-in-charge of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station Mashiur Rahman confir-med the incident saying the arrestee was sent to jail.
