Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan from Florida in USA expressed his condolence for the death of two school students- Dia and Abdul Karim, who were killed in a tragic bus accident in the capital recently. Shakib in his verified facebook page said, “I’m currently in Florida with the rest of the national men’s cricket squad. I want to say a few things to my young fans and followers in this important moment we are witnessing now.”
“I was deeply saddened to hear the heartbreaking news of two young school students - Dia and Abdul Karim- lost their young lives when they were hit by a bus in a needless road accident on Airport road,” Shakib also said.
“But when I saw that their fellow schoolmates and children from schools all over the country immediately raised their voices as one voice to protest and ask the government to bring the offenders to justice and for safer road, I immediately became really proud of them as an aware citizen of Bangladesh. Had I been in the country then I would definitely ask for your autographs,” he added.
Shakib also congratulated the students who raised their
voice against road accident and said, “I congratulate all of your for raising awareness and showing us the way and want to inform you that your demands are being met.”
“Honourable Prime Minister has already provided funds to the affected families in addition to sincerely reforming laws for safer roads and transport. In the mean time the route permit of the bus company has been cancelled and 5 perpetrators related to the offence have been arrested.”
In the last part of his words, the Bangladesh Test and T20 captain humbly requested to all the students to return to their respective schools and focus on their studies.
“At this moment, I sincerely and humbly request all of you to return to your schools and focus on your studies. You have shown us the way and achieved history already! This movement will be fully successful only when you return safely to your families and studies,” he said.
“Your requests have been and are being fulfilled. If not you’ll always find me with you all,” he signed off.
