Editor Moazzem Hossain laid to rest

AHM Moazzem Hossain, editor and publisher of The Financial Express, was laid to eternal rest in the capital yesterday, reports UNB.

He was buried at Azimpur graveyard around 1:15pm after his fourth and final namaz-e-Janaza at the Jatiya Press Club.

Hossain, who had long been suffering from heart and lung complications, died at a hospital capital on Wednesday evening at the age of 73.

His first janaza was held at his residence at Ramna Estate Complex, 124 Boro Maghbazar around 10:15am while the second one on the Financial Express office premises around 11:20am and the third one at Southeast Bank's head office around 11:45 am.

Later, his body was taken to the Jatiya Press Club where his fourth janaza was held around 12:25pm.

Editors, senior journalists, Press Club members, politicians, business leaders and friends and well-wishers of Hossain attended the janaza.

Before the janaza, a brief memorial programme was held where information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Prime Minister's media adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, The Daily Star Editor and Editors' Council's general secretary Mahfuz Anam, News Today editor Reazuddin Ahmed, former BFUJ president Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Press Club vice president Azizul Islam Bhuiyan and The Financial Express acting Editor Shahiduzzaman Khan paid their tributes to Hossain and recalled his contributions to the business journalism.
