A pedestrian was killed in a road accident as a private car ran him over near Danaik Bangla intersection in the capital yesterday. The victim was identified as Rafiqul Islam, 45. He was a small businessman. Police sources said the incident took place at the eastern part of Culvert Road at about 4:15pm when Rafiqul was going from Dainik Bangla intersection to Fakirer Pull by walking. Suddenly a private car pushed him down and escaped the scene.
Seriously injured Rafiqul was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital but the on-duty doctors announced him dead, said a police official of Paltan Police Station.
On duty officer Rafiqul Islam of Ramna police station said Rafiqul, hailed from Louhajong upazila and had some small business at footpath at Mouchak in the city.
