Even though the bulk of the players of the HP unit played series under Bangladesh ‘A’ Team, the High Performance (HP) team of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will make their first tour to Sri Lanka on September 6.
They will play two four-dayers along with three unofficial one-day matches against their Sri Lankan counterparts during their maiden tour this year.
AEM Kawsar, senior national manager of the BCB Games Development informed this to The Independent at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur yesterday.
“A total of 11 players from HP squad played against the visiting Sri Lanka ‘A’ team. Even there are some players in the Ireland series. Actually, we’ve played them under the banner of Bangladesh ‘A’ team,” said AEM Kawsar.
“But they will make their first tour as HP team in Sri Lanka on September 6. They will play two four-day matches coupled with three one day fixtures,” Kawsar said.
The exclusive training programme what BCB revived with an aim of producing young talented players and immediate replacement for the national team.
After dropping from the national team, top-order batsman Soumya Sarkar, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Abu Haider Rony, Mustafizur Rahman, Nazmul Islam Apu, Anamul Haque Bijoy practiced with HP squad.
Therefore, they played some more games for Bangladesh ‘A’ team before going to West Indies for one-day series.
