Three-day art camp begins
at Shilpakala today

A three-day art camp on ‘Chitrokolay Khudro Jatisottar Sangskritik Jibon Chitra’ (Cultural Life of Ethnic Minorities through Paintings) will begin today at the National Art Plaza of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky and BSA Secretary Jahangir Hossain Chowdhury will inaugurate the art camp at 12pm today.

There are about 50 ethnic minority groups in Bangladesh. Most of these ethnic groups have their own language and culture. Due to lack of preservation, their language and culture are not being developed properly.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has taken an initiative to collect and preserve these languages and culture in the form of painting. In this regard, a number of 50 artistes visited several places of ethnic minorities from July 21 to 23 this year.

As a part of the initiative, BSA is organizing this three-day art camp, where 50 artists will portray the life and culture of ethnic minorities through their painting. The art camp will be held every day from 9am to 6pm at Art Plaza of BSA, until August 4.
