30 arrested in Dinajpur

DINAJPUR: Law enforcers, in special drives arrested 30 persons including eight drug traders from different areas of the district yesterday, reports BSS.

Law enforcers also seized 110 bottles of phensidyl, 500 liters of liquor and 300 pieces of yaba tablets during the drives. Police said they were picked up from different areas of the district on different charges.

Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added. Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive detained three drug traders with 300 pieces of yaba tablets and 110 bottles of phensidyl around 11pm from Hili Railway Station in Hakimpur upazila of the district.

Tree fair begins in Gobindaganj

GAIBANDHA: A three-day long fruit bearing tree fair began on the premises of Gobindaganj upazila of the district on Tuesday afternoon, reports BSS.

Local lawmaker Principal Abul Kalam Azad inaugurated the fair, organised by Upazila Agriculture Office, as the chief guest while acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rafiul Islam presided over it.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Sahera Banu was present on the occasion.

Khas land allotted to landless people in Pirojpur

PIROJPUR: The government distributed khas land ( government owned fallow land) among 267 landless families including Freedom Fighters (FF) of the district during the last 2017-2018 fiscal year, reports BSS.

District administrative sources said the government earlier decided to distribute khas land among landless people as well as poor freedom fighters. A total of 49.94 acres of land have been distributed among the landless people and freedom fighters in four upazilas of the district, executive magistrate of the district M Masum Billah said.
