Two held with 32 gold bars at Shahjalal airport

Customs Preventive team at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport detained a driver of US Bangla Airlines and a passenger along with 32 gold bars yesterday morning, reports UNB. The arrestees were identified as Md Arifuzzaman Palash, 33 a driver of US Bangla Airlines and passenger Hasan Mohammad Mohasin Chowdhury of Fatikchhari upazila in Chattogram. Acting on a tip-off, a custom team conducted a drive in the airport around 8 am and arrested them along with the gold bars worth Tk 1.86 crore, said Othello Chowdhury, deputy commissioner of Customs Preventive Team. Earlier, the passenger landed at the airport by an aircraft of US Bangla Airlines (BS322) from Oman via Chattogram in the morning.
