Quantum Foundation won the title of the 17th Cute Premier Handball League when they trounced the Old Ideals by 40-15 goals in their last match yesterday at the Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali Handball Stadium in the capital.
Quantum earned highest 24 points with eight wins and conceded only one defeat out of nine matches.
Arambagh Krira Sangha clinched the runners-up trophy when the defending champions Narinda Progati Boys Club managed the third position on the basis of goal deference, as both the sides earned 22 points each from as many seven wins, one draw and one defeat.
Arambagh scored highest 422 goals in the league while the champions Quantum scored 331 goals and Narinda netted 370 goals.
Arambagh conceded 216 goals as Narinda digested 228 goals to finish runners-up.
Meanwhile, Old Ideals could earn only three points with winning one match and Victoria Sporting Club could not earn even a point when they suffered defeats in their all nine matches with conceding 477 goals.
In the last day’s other matches, Arambagh just demolished Dhaka Mariner Young’s Club by 77-14 and Narinda Progoti Boys Club defeated Prime Sporting Club by 38 goals.
General (rted) Abu Belal Mohammed Shafiul Haque, president of the Bangladesh Olympic Association, distributed trophies among the winners as the chief guest while Kazi Rajibuddin Ahmed Chapal, chairman of the Mousumi Industries, the sponsors of the league was present as special guest.
AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul, president of the Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF), Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, general secretary of the BHB, Hassanullah Khan Rana, vice president of the BHF, ABM Masud Hossain, chairman of the league committee and the Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Janhangir Hossain, secretary of the league committee were present among others.
