The Sichuan Silkroad Economic Belt Investment and Corporation Chamber of Commerce, China will set up an industrial park on 988.50 acres of land in Mirsarai Economic Zone (EZ), reports BSS.
Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) Executive Member (Additional Secretary) Harun-or Rashid and Sichuan Silkroad Economic Belt Investment and Corporation Chamber of Commerce, China Chairman Luo Changwen yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for setting up the park, titled ‘Sichuan Industrial Park’, at BEZA Conference Room in the capital, said a press release.
BEZA Executive Chairman Paban Chowdhury was present at the MoU signing ceremony. Under the Sichuan Chamber of Commerce, a total of US$1.59 billion investment proposal has been come while 24 industries have interested to invest.
During the signing ceremony, Paban Chowdhury said China is playing vital role to develop the Mirsarai Economic Zone and the MoU will help accelerate the trade relations between the two countries.
BEZA is working for establishing an industrial city on about 30,000 acres land in the Mirsarai upazila under the Chattogram district. The EZ will be the industrial capital of Bangladesh and play a pivotal role in fulfilling the country’s investment prospects.
According to the BEZA, the government has planned develop a total of 100 economic zones at different parts of the country by 2030. Development of 28 economic zones under public and private sectors are progressing fast.
