RAJSHAHI: Around 20,010 unemployed women received technical and vocational training in Rajshahi Women Technical Training Centre (RWTTC) during last twelve years since 2006, reports BSS. Simultaneously, 11,198 of them obtained jobs both in home and abroad contributing to socioeconomic development of the country. Engineer Nazmul Haque, Principal of RWTTC, revealed this while addressing a seminar titled “Job Fair and Employment” at the centre hall room. RWTTC organised the seminar in sideline of a daylong job fair yesterday with financial support from Skills and Training Enhancement Project.
Engineer Haque said women were given six-month training on general electronics, architectural drafting with AutoCAD, dress-making and embroidery, dyeing, printing and block boutique, fruit processing and preservation under Skill “We provided many women who intended to go abroad with different trainings including vocational and housekeeping and many of them got jobs,” he added.
President of Rajshahi Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md Muniruzzman, Principal of Rajshahi Mohila Polytechnic Institute Omor Faruque, Principal of Bangladesh Polytechnic Institute Syed Ahmmad Jaki, Principal of National Science and Technology Polytechnic Kamal Hossain and Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat also spoke.
Around 12 job providing public institutions joined the fair and they provided jobs to 31 women graduated from the RWTTC on the occasion. Chamber leader Muniruzzaman viewed technical education could be effective means of building competent and skilled human resources and its role is very vital for a substantial and sustainable growth of national economy. Role of skilled people is also very important for earning more foreign remittance which is significant for country’s development.
He said communication development and improving relations between technical institutions and industries is very important for providing time-fitting technical teaching to the women and employment for achieving sustainable development goals. Besides, he urged all concerned to ensure quality education to the technical students so that they could be transformed into worthy citizens. Muniruzzaman said the present government with dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has attached top priority to the technical education. It has set target to upgrade the technical education to 20 percent by 2020.
