Stress on popularising science and technology-based education

RANGPUR: Officials at a discussion today laid emphasis on popularising science and technology-based modern education among the youngsters to further accelerate pace of national advancement, reports BSS.

They came up with the view at the inaugural ceremony of the divisional level two-day fifth Science and Technology Fair-2018 at Zila Parisahd Community Centre in the city. The divisional administration under patronisation of the Science and Technology Welfare Trust is organising the fair to attract the young students in science- and technology-based education for more innovation.

Director General of National Museum for Science and Technology Swapan Kumar Roy launched the fair by cutting ribbon at the inaugural ceremony and addressed the discussion as the chief guest.

Presided over by Rangpur Divisional Director of the Local Government Division Md Zakir Hossain, Deputy Director (Local Government) for Rangpur Ruhul Amin Mian delivered the welcome speech.

The divisional and district level government officials, heads of different educational institutions and government departments, students, teachers, educationists and local elite were present.

Thirty secondary level educational institutions from all over Rangpur division have set up 30 stalls on the fair premises projecting diverse scientific projects, research activities and ICT-based innovations . The speakers put maximum importance on spreading science- and technology-based modern education and knowledge among the young generations for attaining sustainable national development. Zakir Hossain said popularisation of the science- and ICT-based education is a must to attain self-sufficiency in all spheres for building a middle income nation by 2021 and a developed country by 2041.

The chief guest put emphasis on building a science minded nation by making the various programmes taken by the government in popularising science- and technology-based education successful. “The present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina put maximum importance on spreading science, technology and knowledge-based education and skills for attaining sustainable national prosperity,” he said.
