Law ministry initiates to form District Case Coordination Committee

Noting that the country is riddled with 34 lakh pending cases, Law Minister Annisul Huq yesteday said the ministry has initiated to form a District Case Coordination Committee to expedite the disposals of the cases across the country, reports UNB. We are riddled with pile of pending cases. Weve long been inheriting these. Currently, we have a total of 38 lakh cases pending across the country. We are taking initiative to form a District Case Coordination Committee led by District Judge, he said. The committee would help in providing witnesses and investigation reports in short time, said the minister while attending a conference of Deputy Commissioners (DC) at the Secretariat.
Such coordination committees would also be comprised of district judges, DCs and Superintendents of Police, said law minister. We will inform how to dispose the drug related cases in short time with the existing Narcotics Control Act. We are also thinking of changing the law for quick disposal of the drug related cases, he said.
Meanwhile, Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif, who also attended the DC conference, said Within next 6-7 years the process of Digital Land Management will be completed. After that land related complications will be easily resolved.
Replying a query over establishing political offices on government land, the minister said The political offices will be evicted which are established on government land. The DCs have been given direction in this regard.
