Tagores dance-drama Shap Mochan on Shilpakala stage today

Pallavi Dance Centre is bringing Rabindranath Tagores popular dance-drama Shap Mochan on the stage today evening at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital. The play will be staged as a part of a fundraising event titled Utsho Cultural Night 2018 to support the underprivileged women and children.
Ekushey Padak winning dance exponent and choreographer Minu Haque has directed the dance-drama, while the set is designed by Pervin Lopa from Dramatic Arts and Cinematography Department of BSA.
The dance-drama Shap Mochan is an enthralling story of two lovers who are banished from heaven and sent to earth, because they were consumed by their passion to an extent that they neglected their heavenly duties and responsibilities. Once reborn on the earth, they encounter numerous obstacles and hurdles. They are required to make tremendous sacrifices and endure great pain and suffering before they are reunited once again.
The cast of the Shap Mochon includes Kosture Mukharjee (Komolika), Anik Bose (Aruneshwar), ABM Shahidul Islam (Raja Sourosen), Salma Begum (Madhusree), Subrata Das (Indra), Maitree Sarker (Indrani), Samita Dey (Urvashi) and Tofayel Ahmed (King).
