Man killed by ‘younger brother’

A man was killed allegedly by his younger brother at Ramchandrapur in Chandrima area of Rajshahi city on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Mulluk Chan Mandal, 44, son of Namazi Mandal of the area.

Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of Chandrima Police Station, said Mulluk Chan Mandal had picked up a quarrel with his younger brother Jahangir Mandal over family feud around 6 am. At one stage, Jahangir hit Mulluk with a sharp weapon, leaving him dead on the spot.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

2,552 cases filed for traffic rule violations

Traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in their simultaneous drives on the capital streets on Tuesday filed 2,552 cases against different modes of vehicles for traffic rule violations. It also realized over Taka 19.25 lakh as fine from owners, said an official release.

Of the total cases, 256 cases were lodged for driving on wrong sides, 40 for using hydraulic horn, five for using hotter and beckon light and eight others for using tinted glass. Some 35 cases, including 16 video cases, were registered against drivers of different modes of vehicles on charges of talking over mobile phone while they were driving. It also dumped 17 vehicles and wrecked 662 others.

Total lunar eclipse on Friday

A total lunar eclipse will occur on Friday, said the Climate Division of Bangladesh Meteorological Department yesterday. The eclipse will start at Bangladesh Standard Time (BST) 23 hours 13 minutes 06 seconds which will end at 05 hours 30 minutes 24 seconds BST on Friday.

Total eclipse will occur at 02 hours 21 minutes 48 seconds BST and the highest magnitude of the eclipse will be 1.614.

Death anniversary of MA Chaklader today

The 18th death anniversary of renowned industrialist and the founder chairman of Maxwell Group Late Alhaj MA Chaklader will be observed today, says a press release.

On this occasion a dua-mahfil, quraankhawni and serving feed has arranged at his apartment and family graveyard. Alhaj MA Chaklader Foundation has also arranged dua-mahfil at the foundation office in the city today.  The foundation requested all his relatives and admirers to attend the programmes.
