Police filed a case on Sunday night against some 200 unidentified men of Awami League following a clash between two groups of the ruling party activists over teachers’ recruitment at Ishwarganj Degree College in Iswarganj upazila on Sunday afternoon. At least 20 people, including three policemen, were injured in the clash. Masud Jameli, a sub-inspector of Iswarganj police station, filed the case on Sunday night against some 200 unidentified men of AL accusing them of assault on police, obstructing police from performing duty, creating anarchy in the area and putting a barricade on Mymensingh-Kishoreganj road, said Borhan Uddin, officer-in-charge of the police station. A test for requirement of 15 teachers was scheduled to be held on Sunday morning for three subjects. But the college authorities later postponed it following the clash between two factions of AL , one loyal to Rafiqul Islam Bulbul, president (acting) of AL upazila unit and member of the college governing body, and another to Abdus Sattar, a former AL lawmaker and the incumbent president of the college governing body, said police. Earlier on the day, college Vice Principal Masudul Haque served a notice suspending the recruitment test following a show-cause notice served by the court following a case filed in this regard, said college sources.
