At least five people were killed and nine others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a humanhauler on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Ghasiadia area of Shibpur upazila yesterday night, reports UNB. The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Shibpur Police Station, said the accident took place as a Dhaka bound bus of Ena Paribahan collided with the humanhauler, leaving two killed on the spot and 12 others critically injured.
Three of the injured died on the way to Narsingdi District Hospital, said the OC.
Four of the injured were advised for shifting to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated, said Dr Mizanur Rahman of the district hospital.
On information, police recovered two bodies from the spot and sent those to the sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
