One to die, three get life for murder

Jamalpur: A court here on Thursday sentenced a man to death and three other people to life imprisonment in a murder case of 2002, reports UNB.

The condemned convict is Shafiqul Islam of Gopalpur village in Sadar upazila while the lifers are Sumon Miah, Jinnah and Abu Sama of the same village.

The former was also fined Tk 20,000 while the latter trio Tk 10,000 each.

Jamalpur Additional District and Session’s Judge SM Zillur Rahman passed the verdict.

According to the prosecution, the convicts hacked Azhar Ali following a dispute over an audio cassette of Hindi songs at Gopalpur village on November 20, 2002.

Victim’s brother filed a case over the murder.
