NAOGAON: A total of 301 community clinics operating in 11 upazilas of the district have provided medicare services to over 12 lakh people during the last eight months, reports BSS.
Sources concerned said the healthcare service recipients included 5,07,914, men, 6,34,129 women and 73,921 children.
Apart from this, a huge number of expectant mothers have got all types neonatal and postnatal medical facilities from the clinics during the same period.
The number of patients at the clinics is increasing day by day due to a rising awareness among local peoples about modern treatment facilities available with the health centers. Talking to BSS, Naogaon District Civil Surgeon Dr Mominul Haque said local peoples are very happy as they get necessary medicare services, including referral advice, pregnancy checkup and de-warming and vaccination, at their doorsteps.
The civil surgeon said low-cost and hassle-free medicare services were out of reach of the rural people before launching of the community clinics. The government is providing the patients with 27 types of medicines free of cost at the health centers.
He said the community clinics have earned public confidence through conducting safe deliveries in rural areas side by side with providing cost free health services and medicines to the common people.
Khairul Islam, 40, a day laborer of Baktarpur union in Sadar upazila, expressed his satisfaction over the service he received from the local clinic. “We get treatment from the clinic at the time of necessity,” he added.
Housewife Jesmin Ara, resident of the same area, is very much happy after getting treatment and medicine free of cost from the clinic.
Another housewife of Jagonnathpur village under Adhaipur union of Badalgachhi upazila Hamida Bibi said a few years ago we had to go to the district headquarters for receiving treatment through spending huge money.
“But now my family members are getting treatment near my house from the community clinic,” she said.
Ferdousi Parvin, a community health service provider of Muradpur community clinic in Sadar upazila, said most of the villagers, especially women and children, come to the clinic every day to get necessary health services.
