Outlaw leader held with arm, ammo in Khulna

KHULNA: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) leader with firearm and ammunition on Saturday, reports BSS. The arrested was Arif Sarder, 29, an active member of Janajuddha (ML) faction of banned Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP). He is trading illegal firearms in the region since long. Earlier, RAB-6 in a special drive arrested Arif from Murgipotti area under Borobazar area of the city on Saturday evening. RAB also recovered one barrel gun and 35 rounds of bullets from his possession. Deputy Commander of RAB-6 Major Md Hossain Roisul Azam, said in a press briefing held at the RAB-6 headquarters in Labonchara area in the city yesterday morning. "We have made a deal with Arif to buy a gun at a cost of Tk 60,000 and 30 rounds of bullet at a cost of Tk 30,000 by a source," Azam said. "Arif was arrested by plain cloth RAB after he changes his position several time from noon to evening on Saturday," Azam added. Arif, son of Khokon Sarder, resident at Nandanpur village under Rupsha upazila in Khulna, he sold illegal firearms to the terrorists, militants group and other firearms traders in the south-west region. "I re-start the business after releasing from Khulna jail," Arif said. Later, he was handed over to Khulna Kotwali Police.
