The students of private universities staged demonstration for the third consecutive days for withdrawing 7.5 per cent VAT on the tuition fees. The vehicular movement Lalkhan Bazar, CWASA, GEC and No 2 Gate in the city was suspended for a few hours as the students took to the streets. The students’ agitation also triggered huge traffic congestion on both sides of the streets. The agitating students said that the move of the government would push them into a corner. Instead of paying heed to the legitimate demand, the government unleashed the law enforcers on to the students. The students also vowed to carry on with their movement until the VAT is withdrawn.
