A guardian of a patient was assaulted allegedly by the class IV employees of Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) yesterday noon when he refused to pay Tk two hundred as extortion. It is learnt Abdul Majid of Baliagram under Atwari Upazila in Panchagarh district came to RMCH yesterday to admit his wife Rashida Begum (60). Liton and Younus, leaders of class IV employees association, demanded Taka two hundred from Abdul Majid as extortion when he went to emergency unit to admit his wife.
As Majid refused to pay them they assaulted him and tore his shirt, alleged Suli Begum, daughter of Abdul Majid. Hearing the news ASM Barkatulla, director, Rangpur Medical College Hospital, rushed to spot and took the situation under control. He said it was misunderstanding between guardian of the patient and employees. Anisur Rahaman, president of Class IV Employees Association, said the guardian of the patient attacked the employees. He said employees of hospital never misbehaved with patients or guardians.
