President returns home today
President Abdul Hamid will return home from London today. 
President’s Assistant Press Secretary Imranul Hasan quoted Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin as saying over the phone from London that the president will land in Bangladesh at 11.05 am at the VVIP lounge of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
“President, who has been suffering from Glaucoma since long, went for his check-up at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London. He used to have his health checkup in London while he was the Speaker in the Jatiya Sangsad,” he added.
The 74-year-old President also underwent health check-up in London in October last year.
President Abdul Hamidleft Dhaka on July 7 for London for health check-up and treatment of eyes.
Case filed over crude bomb attack on BNP rally
A case was filed over the crude bomb attack at an election rally of BNP candidate of Rajshahi City Corporation election on Tuesday.
Sub-inspector Shamim of Boalia Police Station filed the case accusing 8/10 unidentified people under Explosive Substance Act on Tuesday night, said Aman Ullah, officer-in-charge of the police station.
Earlier on Tuesday morning, at least five people including a journalist were injured in a crude bomb attack at an election rally.
Several masked miscreants riding on a motorcycle hurled three crude bombs on the rally, leaving them injured, witnesses said.
Teenage girl ‘gang-raped’ 
A teenage worker of a footwear factory has allegedly been gang-raped by four youths at Devpur of Cumilla district.
The victim filed a written compliant with Burichang Police Station on Monday in this regard.
According to the allegation, local youth Hridoy used to harass her on her way to and back home from the footwear factory at Devpur.
On Sunday evening, the victim, aged around 17, was waiting for a vehicle in Cantonment area for returning home from her sister’s house.
However, Hridoy picked her in his motorbike promising her to leave her at her residence.
Man killed in road crash
A man was killed as a bus ran over him in capital’s Shahbagh area today.
The deceased was identified as Omar Faruk, 50, a private car driver and son of Abdus Salam of Matlab in Chandpur district.
The accident took place around 10 am when a bus hit Faruk while crossing the road in the area, leaving him injured, said Sub inspectorShahedof Shahbagh Police Station.
Later, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead around 11:30 am.
19 jailed for drug addiction
Two separate mobile courts on Tuesday sentenced 19 persons to different jail terms on charge of taking drugs and drug trading.
Earlier Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 29 alleged drug addicts conducting four separate drives in Chapainawabganj, Natore, Naogaon and Joypurhat districts, said RAB officials familiar with the drives. Later the arrested were produced before the concerned mobile courts.
The courts led by Executive Magistrates Saiful Islam and Mobarak Hossain awarded different jail terms to 19 of the arrested persons. Eight of the detained persons were fined Taka 40,000 by the courts. Regular cases were lodged against two others.
RAB sources said the elite force during the drives also seized six yaba tablets, 0.905 grams of ganja, 34 ample drug-injections, 11,000 liters of country-made liquor and some other drugs-taking instrument.
