Rafiqul Islam, Anisuzzaman honoured

Prominent educationists Prof Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam and Emeritus Professor Anisuzzaman in Dhaka yesterday were honoured at Dhaka
University (DU) for being appointed as national professors, reports BSS.
Dhaka University’s Linguistic Department organised a reception at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban to honour linguistic department Prof Rafiqul Islam and Bengali department Emeritus Professor Anisuzzaman.
DU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, DU Pro-VC (Academic) Professor Dr Nasreen Ahmed, Pro-VC (Administration) Professor Dr Muhammad Samad, were present at the programme with Honorary Professor of linguistics department Dr. Abul Kalam Monjur Morshed in the 
chair.

Anisuzzaman while Professor Dr. Feroza Yasmin read out panegyric on Prof Rafiqul Islam.
Congratulating the two educationists, DU VC Akhtaruzzaman said they are playing important roles in developing Bengali language and literature and the nation building. “Prof Rafiqul and Prof Anisuzzaman played an active role in language movement and liberation war,” he said.
DU VC urged the young generation to take lessons from the lives and works of the two educationists.
The government has appointed Prof Rafiqul Islam, Prof Anisuzzaman and Prof Jamilur Reza Choudhury as national professors for the next five years on June 19, 2018.
