‘Robber’ killed in Jhenidah ‘gunfight’

A suspected robber was killed in a reported gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion

(Rab) at Bhaturia in Harinakundu upazila of Jhenidah Tuesday night, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Amirul Islam Pocha, 43, a member of an inter-district robber gang.

Golam Morshed, assistant superintendent of Rab-6, said the elite force set up a check-post in the area. While passing through the check-post, a gang of robbers opened fire to Rab men forcing them to fire back in self-defence.

Later, the Rab members recovered the bullet-hit body of Pocha and sent to Harinakundu Upazila Health Complex.

They also recovered one shutter gun, two bullets and a sharp weapon from the spot.The deceased was wanted in 13 cases including that of murder and robbery, said the Rab official.
