‘Hundi trader’ arrested with US$ 50,000

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a Hundi trader along with US$ 50,000 from Khalsi Bazar area here on Saturday evening.

The arrestee was identified as Akhtarul Islam, 30, son of Yusuf Ali of Putkhali village in the upazila.

Major Syed Sohel Ahmed, acting commanding officer of BGB-21, said being tipped off that a hundi trader was carrying huge US dollar, a BGB team detained him and seized the dollars searching his body.

Later, Akhterul was handed over to Benapole Police Station after filing of a case in this regard, the official added.
