Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has finally appointed Ryan Lyall Cook as National Team Fielding Consultant. Appointing a fielding coach was a long due, however Lyall’s appointment came as a relief since Bangladesh fielders have been struggled for a quite long time.
The South African will join the side in Jamaica today. He has reached an agreement with the BCB to work up to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 in England and Wales.
Cook is currently the Head Coach and High Performance Director of Gary Kirsten Cricket academy in Cape Town. He is also the Assistant Coach of Hobart Hurricanes in Australia’s Big Bash League. He has also served in the capacity of South Africa A Team Assistant Coach. Cook was Assistant Coach of the South Africa Under 19 Team in the ICC Under 19 World Cup 2016 in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile Bangladesh received a blow when paceman Shafiul Islam has sustained a right ankle injury while fielding at practice on Tuesday and has been ruled out of the second Test match against the West Indies. Shafiul was almost sure to make the cut in the second Test. He however will get back to the country after the Test as he needs a considerable time to be fit fully.
