Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said members of the law enforcement agencies are facing the anti-VAT movement by the students of private universities with patience.
“They (students) have right to go for movement. But they can not deteriorate the law and order situation. The law enforcement and the intelligence agencies are closely monitoring the movement,” he told reporters after a meeting on law and order, held at the home ministry yesterday.
The minister said the finance ministry is looking into the matter of VAT imposed by them and the issue would be resolved soon.
About the payment of salaries and allowances of the garment workers before the Eid-ul-Azha, the home minister said they have already asked garment factory owners to pay salaries and allowances to their workers on time.
“We have also urged the garment factory owners to declare Eid-holiday from September 21 to 24 in phases,” he said.
