The burnt body of a police officer was recovered from a forest in Rayerdia area of Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur yesterday, reports UNB. Two days earlier, Inspector Mamun Imran Khan working at Police Special Branch (SB) in Dhaka went missing from his brother's house at Sabujbag area of the capital.
Gazipur police superintendent (SP), Md Harun ur Rashid said yesterday afternoon locals saw the body which was burnt and left abandoned wrapped in a sack in the forest of Rayerdia village in Ulukhola area of the district. Being informed by local people, a police team rushed to the spot and recovered the body. The body was sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Some miscreants might have killed Mamun and dumped his body at the forest, the SP said.
