Weeklong tax fair in Ctg, Khulna begins Sept 16

A weeklong tax fair 2015 will take place in Chittagong and Khulna as elsewhere in the country from September 16 with a view to encouraging people to pay taxes regularly. Staff Reporter from Chittagong adds: National Board of Revenue (NBR) will organise the tax fair at Jamburi field near CGO building-2 from September 16. The Income Tax Day will also be observed on September 15. The weeklong event in Chittagong brought the National Board of Revenue (NBR) chest income tax of Tk 352 crore in the 2014-2015 fiscal, Tk 276.01 crore in fiscal 2013-2014 and Tk 126.45 crore in 2012-2013 fiscal year, this was reveled in a press conference held at Chittagong yesterday.
The taxpayers can submit their income tax returns for 2015-2016 in the fair. There will also facility for the new taxpayer’s e-registration for taxpayer identification numbers (TINs), there will be booths to assist people it will have separate counters to assist senior, female, and disabled persons pay taxes. In the written statement Kazi Imdadul Haq, commissioner of Tax and convener of Income Tax Day -2015, said a four-day tax fair will be organised at Cox’s Bazar district, two-day tax fair at Rangamati, Bandarban and Khagrachari districts. At Anwara, Patiya, Loagara, Chandanaish, Raozan, Hathazari, Sitakunda, Boalkhali and Satkania upazilas of Chittagong district and Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district a day long mobile tax fair will be organised.
In Khulna: The fair will be held Fairway Hall of BNS Titumir at Khalishpur of Khulna city on September 16.
The fair will remain open for visitors from 10am to 5pm everyday from September 16 to 22.
The fair is being organised to raise awareness among both the taxpayer and non-taxpayer and it would help bring more transparency and accountability in the process of paying tax.
Meanwhile, a discussion and rally will be organised to observe the National Income Tax Day-2015 at the auditorium of Fairway Hall of BNS Titumir in the city on Tuesday. There will be another programme to accord reception for the highest and long-term tax payer at the said auditorium at around 11:30 am of the same day.
State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Narayan Chandra Chando will present and hand over the crests as chief guest.
