Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said setting up of 72,219 tubewells are underway to ensure safe drinking water in rural areas across the country, reports BSS.
“We have installed 42,451 tubewells for ensuring supplying of safe drinking water at rural areas across the country,” she said this while responding to a starred question from treasury bench member Enamul Hoque of Rajshahi-4 in the Jatiya Sangsad.
The Prime Minister said the government set up 16,415 tubewells for supplying safe drinking water under Rural Water Supply Project (Fifth Phase), adding, “26,036 tubewells have been installed under Special Rural Water Supply Project.”
The government is working to set up 52,021 tubewells across the country under the Priority Rural Water Supply Project, Sheikh Hasina informed the House.
