Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity on Monday defended its road crash report claiming it to be authentic. Earlier on Sunday, Road Transport and Bridges Ministry claimed that the report of Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity stating that a total of 339 people were killed in road accidents across the country during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays was not authentic.
In a press statement, the passengers’ welfare platform said on Monday that the report was part of the regular work of Jatri Kalyan Samity which has been doing so since 2015 and acquired acclamation of different social communities. “We want to clearly state that the report was authentic, reliable, real picture of the incidents. We never publish report by enhancing or reducing numbers to confuse people, all the necessary cautions and inspections were done for making the report”, it said.
