Sunamganj: Two people, including a woman, were killed and five others injured as a boat capsized in Jorsingha haor in South Sunamganj upazila due to strong waves on Sunday afternoon, reports UNB.
The deceased are Hosne Ara, 26, wife of Sajidur Rahman hailing from Ukargaon village in the upazila, and Emdadul Haque, 60, son of late Furkan Ali of Jallabad village in Jamalganj upazila of the district.
Officer-in-charge of South Sunamganj Police Station Md Iftekhar Hossain Chowdhury said the boat carrying seven people sank around 5pm after being caught in a storm.
Two people on board drowned in the haor while five others managed to swim ashore although the received minor injuries, he added.
