Sirajganj: A court here on Sunday sent six local BNP leaders to jail upon their surrender in a case filed under the Explosive Substances Act, reports UNB.
Judicial Magistrate Habibur Rahman passed the order after the BNP leaders turned up before his court seeking bail in the case.
The BNP leaders are Rashidul Hasan Miron, Razzak Rana, Khandakar Shamimul Islam, Habibar Rahman Akanda, Sultan Hossain and Rayhan Hossain.
According to the case statement, the suspects were in a secret meeting in Raiganj upazila to thwart a court verdict against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a graft case.
Police raided the spot and managed to arrest a UP member and a case was filed against 29 BNP men over the incident.
