Barishal Metropolitan Police (BMP) arrested five students of Infra Polytechnic Institute (IPI) in connection with Civil Engineering sixth semester question paper leaks.
Principal of IPI Abdur Rahim said Technical Education Board cancelled the examination of Wednesday following the allegation.
Anowar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Airport Police Station, said receiving calls through 999, the national emergency helpline, on Tuesday late night they conducted drives at Kashipur, Ichakathi and Rajmahal area of the city and arrested five examinees of sixth semester of Civil Engineering course of Infra Polytechnic Institute (IPI).
Checking their mobile phone sets soft copies of the questions were found early yesterday, the OC said.
The arrested five students are Zahidul Islam, 19, Abu Nayem 20, Amimul Islam 20, Sabbir Hossain, 20, Tarek Hossain 19, students of IPI.
Habibur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Barishal Metropolitan Police, said police sent that soft copy of question papers to Dr Sushil Kumar Paul, examination controller of Bangladesh Technical Education Board, and he confirmed
the leaking of question papers. A case was filed against six students with Airport Police Station.
