Special TV shows on Ferdausi Rahman’s birthday today

Today is the birthday of Ekushey Padak and Independence Day Award winning celebrated singer Ferdausi Rahman. The veteran singer is scheduled to participate in the celebrity talk show ‘Taroka Kathan’ on Channel i at 12:30pm today on her birthday. Produced by Ananya Roma, the show will be anchored by Mousumi Barua.

Besides, a musical show titled ‘Priyo Shilpi Priyo Gaan’--featuring notable songs rendered by Ferdausi Rahman--will be aired on Bangladesh Television (BTV) tonight at 9pm. Dinat Jahan Munni will be seen anchoring the show produced by Mahbuba Ferdous. DhakaLive has news that after a hiatus of five years, Ferdausi Rahman will appear in any show of BTV. The audience will get the opportunity of enjoying several remarkable songs in her rendition like ‘Zar Chhaya Porechhe’, ‘Porane Dola Dilo’, ‘Ami Sagorer Neel’, ‘Loke Bole Prem Ami Boli Jala’, ‘Ami Rupnogorer Rajkonya’ and others.

Ferdausi Rahman said about her birthday, “These days, I don’t think about birthday anymore. Even I am not physically fit like before. This is true that Channel i tries to make the day special every time. If I feel better, I would participate in the ‘Taroka Kathan’ on Channel i today. It always feels wonderful to attend the show. The rest of the time of my birthday will be spent with the family. Besides, ‘Priyo Shilpi Priyo Gaan’ will be aired tonight at 9pm on BTV. I seek blessing from everyone for my good health and happy life.”

To note, born on 28 June in 1941, Ferdausi Rahman is the daughter of late famous folk singer Abbas Uddin. The singer is widely known for her brilliant playback performance in the country’s film industry for decades. She also sang some popular songs for Pakistani films in the 1960s, especially working with the music composer Robin Ghosh in the film ‘Chakori’ released in 1967. The singer was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 1977 and Independence Day Award in 1995 by the government of Bangladesh. Moreover, Ferdausi Rahman received the lifetime achievement award of National Film Award last year for her outstanding contribution to the country’s music world. l
