It was a hot and humid Friday on June 22, 2018. But, the uncomfortable weather could not deter more than 80 individuals, who are over 50 years of age, from enjoying the day to the fullest.

It was the reunion of the 1982 SSC batch of Mrityunjoy School, a historic and renowned school of Mymensingh. The school, established in 1901, has been contributing to society through producing different qualified professionals making their marks in every sphere.

The day featured many programmes to make it a memorable one for the former students, who gathered in Mymensingh from all across the country. And, it has been possible due to the hard work of the former students based in the town.

The honouring of five retired teachers, who used to teach the former students during their time at the school, was the highlight of the reunion organised at the Mymensingh Club. The students honoured their teachers – Porimol Chandra Saha, Naresh Chandra Mondal, Shamsul Haque, Khiti Ranjan Sarker Mujumder and Sunil Kanti Dutta – with some modest gifts and recalling their invaluable contributions to their lives.

Emotion was clearly visible among the students and teachers. And, there was a valid reason behind that. Many students met each other and their teachers after long 36 years.

Later, the students brought out a rally toward the school. They spent some quality time at the place what was once everything to them during the years at the school.

The former students were behaving in a manner as if they are schoolboys again.

Following a sumptuous lunch, the students sat together to recall their days in the school and discuss what they can do for the development of the school.

The fun-filled day ended in the afternoon with raffle draw and pledge to meet again soon.
