3-day training workshop begins at BUET

A three-day training workshop on ‘Re-engineering and Upgradation of Technology for Product Diversification and Enhancement of Export Potencay in Light Engineering Sector’ began on Sunday at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Institute of Appropriate Technology (IAT) of BUET organised the opening ceremony of the workshop which will be continued up to 26 June, 2018, a BUET press release said.

Owners, managers, entrepreneurs, technologists, engineers of various engineering industries and enterprises from all over the country participated at the workshop. Teachers of IAT and other departments of BUET and experts from private and public organisations of the country are rendering training as the resource persons in the workshop.

Both theoretical and practical knowledge are given in the workshop. In addition, there are hands-on training in both BUET Marin Structure Lab and BCSIR CNC Lab. Successful completion of the workshop will allow participants to impact quality of light engineering products. This will increase export potency of light engineering products of our country.

The opening session of the training workshop was conducted by Project Coordinator Dr Iftheker Ahmed Khan. The Director of IAT Prof Dr Mohammad Arif Hasan Mamun supervised the workshop as project director.

98pc midday meals programme implemented: Mostafizur

Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman said the government has successfully implemented 98 percent of the midday meals programmes designed for checking primary school student’s dropout.

“The rate of absence has been reduced after introducing of the midday meals programme for the government primary school students across the country,” he said as the chief guest while inaugurating a two-day “Innovation and Showcasing Fair-2018” at Directorate of Primary Education on Sunday. “Ninety eight percent of the programme has already been implemented,” he said, hoping that the execution rate will be sent percent at the quickest possible time,” “Social interactions have also been increased with introduction of the program which will help to grow talents. The gap between students and teachers has been reduced with ensuring participation of the teachers in the program,” he also said.
