A tribunal here on Monday sent former Bangladesh Chhatra League activist Tarique Bin Zohor alias Tamal, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in the sensational Biswajit Das murder case, to jail after he surrendered before it, reports UNB. Judge Abdur Rahman Sardar of Dhaka's Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 passed the order after Tamal turned up before the court remaining absconding for over five and half years and sought bail.
On December 18, 2013, the same tribunal sentenced eight BCL activists to death and 13 others, including Tamal, to life imprisonment in the Biswajit Das killing case.
On December 9, 2012, tailoring shop employee Biswajit was chopped to death by some BCL activists near Bahadur Shah Park in Old Dhaka during the BNP-led Alliance's countrywide road blockade programme.
