To promote contemporary Bangladeshi films to the Indian audience, Federation of Film Societies of India for the second time has organised a four-day film festival titled ‘Bangladesh Film Festival’ at the Nandan Cinema Hall in Kolkata, India.

A total of eight Bangladeshi films will be screened during the two-day festival. Among these films, seven films are produced by Impress Telefilm.

‘Kaler Putul’ (Dangling by a String), a feature film directed by Aka Reza Ghalib, will open the festival today at 4pm at the Nandan. Inspired by Agatha Christie’s 1939 mystery novel ‘And Then There Were None’, the film stars Ferdous Ahmed, Raisul Islam Asad, Ashish Khandakar, Bithi Rani Sarkar, Jannatun Noor Moon, Arif Orko, Shahed Ali, Lutfar Rahman George and Reetu Sattar, among others.

Also, ‘Oggatonama’ (The Unnamed), a full-length feature film directed by Tauquir Ahmed, will be screened on the first day of the festival.

Tomorrow, ‘Khacha’—a full-length feature film will be screened on the second day of the festival. Joya Ahsan, Chandni, Azad Abul Kalam, Arman Parvez Murad, Kayes Chowdhury, Mahbuba Rezanur, Sadika Rahman Raisa and Mamunur Rashid, among others, have enacted different roles in the film. In the story of the film, Hindu families from East Bengal move to India after the partition in 1947.

Talented filmmaker Abu Sayeed’s film ‘Dressing Table’ will also be screened on the second day at the same venue. Produced under the banner of Impress Telefilm, ‘Dressing Table’ is the seventh film of the award-winning director Abu Sayeed.

On the third day of the festival, ‘Krisno Pokkho’, a 2016 Bangladeshi Bengali language romance, drama film based on the novel of the same name written by Humayun Ahmed, will be screened at 4pm. The film’s adapted screenplay is written and directed by Meher Afroz Shaon and starring Riaz, Mahiya Mahi, Ferdous Ahmed, Azad Abul Kalam and Tania Ahmed.

On the other hand, Purnima-acted film ‘To Be Continued’ directed by Iftekhar Ahmed Fahmi will be screened at 6:15pm.

On the final day of the festival, Thursday, National Film Award winning actress Zakia Bari Mamo-starrer latest film ‘Altabanu’ will be screened.
