Even though the imminent tour against West Indies in Caribbean Islands is tough and challenging for them, their main target is to play a team game against the hosts as wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan Sohan said. Sohan also said that the senior most players they have in the team if they could play in tandem and give their hundred percent, the ultimate result of the tour will come in favour of them.
“As a team, we know that the tour in West Indies will be tough and much more challenging for us,” said Nurul Hasan Sohan. “The last series we had played where we did not do so well. But this time the players are all poised to take the challenge in tandem,” Sohan told after their second day intense practice session under new head coach Steve Rhodes at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur yesterday. Bangladesh team will fly to West Indies tomorrow ( 1am Saturday) to play a full series.
“If we could deliver our hundred percent, the better result of the West Indies tour will then be come,” he added.
“Although the head coach is new, the players are identical. All we’ve been playing together since so many days. I don’t think that the matter of the new coach will be a big factor because there is a planning of a coach for the team.”
“We’ve senior players who have been playing in tandem for so many days. Inshallah, if we could play a team game then the result will come in favour of us. Our target will be to play better brand of cricket as a team.”
The wicketkeeper-batsman said that he will try to give his best effort for the team cause if he gets chance to play for it.
“My target is always to play for Bangladesh at any form of game. It's a different feeling to play for the country,” he thought.
“My target is to perform my game better whatever format I play. As of now I got chance in Test squad, my target will have to perform my better performance if I get chance,” he continued.
With shorter format of cricket Nurul Hasan stepped into international cricket in January 2016. At the same year, he debuted in one-day cricket but his debut in Test had been against New Zealand in 2017. Therefore Bangladesh played four Test series against India, Sri Lanka (away and home) and South African where he did not call up.
That does not make him regret rather than he likes to avoid it because he has no control over it as Sohan, who considered one of the most talented wicketkeeper-batsman of the whole lot of Bangladesh, drafted for the forthcoming Test series against the West Indies following a one and half-a-years hiatus, said.
“Actually it (memory of the dropping from the team) comes now and then in my mind. But I always think to ignore it,” he said, adding “It's better to not think much about it as I have no authority over it. I always try to perform my game better wherever I get chance to play for.”
“I always think first the need of the team. I am agreed to play for the team at which position or level the team management wants me to play. What is good for the team I'll be ready for doing it.”
