Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed yesterday said BNP's existence will be at a stake if it does not join the next general election, reports UNB.
"The boycott of the next general election will be a political suicide for BNP," he said, hoping that the party will not take this path.
While talking to reporters after distributing clothes among helpless women in Borhanuddin municipality at noon, Tofail also said BNP will have to be more active if it wants to participate in the election.
About BNP leader Moudud Ahmed's threat to launch a strong movement after eid, he said it will not be possible for them to wage an agitation programme. "They realised it in 2013, 2014 and 2015. They tried to ruin the country in the name of hartal and blockade for 93 days but failed. They'll fail in the future, too."
The Commerce Minister said BNP will surely take part in the election, no matter what Moudud Ahmed says, and they will try to create chaos before the election. "But, they know they won't succeed."
