Mainstreaming must for welfare of ethnic people

BSS

RAJSHAHI: Ensuring social justice and development of living and livelihood conditions of ethnic minority communities in the northwest region has become indispensable for their peaceful existence. The aboriginal people are always deprived of land rights, food, healthcare, education and cultural facilities, so it is important that the government should ensure their fundamental rights besides fulfilling other requisite demands. Speakers made this observation while addressing a discussion marking the 22nd founding anniversary of Jatiya Adibashi Parishad  at Public Library conference hall in the city yesterday, reports BSS.
District and City units of Jatiya Adibashi Parishad  organised the discussion where various issues relating to the living and livelihood condition of the ethnic minority groups were discussed elaborately. Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, addressed the discussion as the chief guest with Jatiya Adibashi Parishad district unit president Bimal Chandra Rajoad presided over. Jatiya Adibashi Parishad  President Rabindra Nath Saren was the focal person.
Lawmaker Badsha urged the government to fulfill the demands of the plain land ethnic communities so that they can lead their lives smoothly and peacefully. He also called for taking immediate measures against repression and harassment being faced by the underprivileged communities.
Expressing his solidarity with the demands he called upon the people of the ethnic communities to strengthen their movement collectively. “We were with you in all democratic movements earlier, and will remain with you in the days ahead until your demands are fulfilled,” Badsha asserted.
Calling for freeing the ethnic communities from the vicious cycle of poverty coupled with making them fit for all nation- building activities he demanded separate land commission for the plain land ethnic communities to establish their rights on land.
Stressing the need for protecting rights of the ethnic minority people, Badsha said importance should be given on protecting the underprivileged people from all sort of deceptions.
Jatiya Adibashi Parishad presidium member Anil Chandra Marandi, General Secretary Sabin Chandra Munda and leaders Ganesh Mardi, Subhash Chandra Hembrom, Sumila Tudu, Shesen Kumar Shayam Duar also spoke.
