Police seized a truck load of Indian smuggled cloth and saree worth more than Tk 25 lakh yesterday morning from a road at Amjhupi in Meherpur Sadar upazila. Smugglers managed to flee the place leaving behind the truck. Hamidul Alam, superintendent of police, said a truck bearing no Dhaka Metro TA-16-8890 left Mujibnagar border area in the morning for Dhaka loading the Indian saree and cloth. When the truck was crossing Meherpur town, assistant sub-inspector of police (Town) Ansar Ali on suspicion chased the truck. At one stage, truck driver, helper and smugglers managed to escape the place leaving the truck on a rural road at village Amjhupi.
