Speakers at a seminar here yesterday said proper distribution of wealth of the state, social awareness, along with economic progress can help remove poverty and inequality from the society, reports BSS.
State minister for finance and planning MA Mannan attended the seminar as the chief guest while advocacy director of World Vision Bangladesh Chandan C Gomes presided over it.
Steps Towards Development and World Vision Bangladesh jointly organised the seminar on 'Sustainable Development Goals: Bangladesh's Position and Way Forwards'.
Bangladesh Human Rights Commission member Kazi Riazul Haq, Prof MM Akash of Dhaka University, research fellow of BIDS Dr Abul Bashar and executive director of Steps Towards Development Ranjan Karmaker, among others, spoke at the seminar. Member of the Planning Commission Prof Dr Shamsul Alam presented the keynote speech. State Minister MA Mannan said civil society has more scope to contribute to the country's development activities because they have the knowledge-efficiency.
He said country's development activities have been intensified because of the government's planning
and sincerity and urged all to extend cooperation to
the government for continuation of its development activities.
