Nasir Hossain termed the tour of India as a perfect platform to have a practice ahead of the upcoming Test series against Australia, citing that all players would be focused to do well in India. The players are supposed to play a match in the National Cricket League (NCL) in order to have a match practice but the India tour gave them a nice opportunity to use it with better effect.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had already formed a strong 15-member Bangladesh A team for the India tour, including 14 players who had played in the national team in the recent past and have good chance to be included into the Test squad for Australia series. This team will play three-match one-day series and two-match three-dayer against India A and Ranji Trophy champions Karnataka.
“Ahead of the home series against Australia, I think, it is better practice option for us than the NCL. India A team is a stronger side. We play in NCL but the focus will be more there than NCL. It will be tough competition and our players have all their focus on it,” Nasir who is the deputy to captain Mominul Haque, told the reporters yesterday.
India also announced a strong A team, with Shikhar Dhawan leading the side which included some of the national players. Bengaluru will host the one day matches alongside the last three-dayers. One day matches will be held on September 16, 18 and 20 respectively. The second and last three-dayer will commence from September 27-29. the first three-dayer which the visitors will play against Karnataka will be at Mysore from September 22-24.
“No doubt, The series is a good platform to have a good preparation for the Australia series. Most of the national players will play here, so our target is to play good cricket in order to gain confidence. If we could perform well then it will be beneficial for us in the Australia series,” he pointed adding, “The series would be better for the development of the individual performance.”
Rangpur-born Nasir said that he has no personal goal but playing better cricket in India will be his prime objective. “I have no such personal goal. But I will try to capitalise the opportunity what I get. I will try to play better for the team,” Nasir vowed. Nasir earlier traveled to India with A team. But he said that there is difference between the past and current tour in India. “That was the tour when I aimed to make room in the national team. But in this tour, I have no such target because I was the part of Bangladesh team when we play the last Test.”
“I have forgotten all those. But I can say only that I toured last time in Kolkata, where we didn’t play bad cricket.” About Mominul’s captaincy, Nasir said, “It will not be tough for him (Mominul) to captain the team. We all are matured enough to aware of our respective roles and responsibility. Even, we all have been performing together for many days. So, I think captaincy will not be tougher. I am ready to support him if any thing is required from my side.”
