Private bus operators will start selling advance tickets from today for homebound people ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. Bangladesh Bus Truck Owners' Association fixed the date after holding a meeting of the organisation on May 25, reports UNB. Meanwhile, Bangladesh Railway will begin sale of advance train tickets from June 1, a day after the advance bus tickets go on sale while the sales of advance tickets for cabins of launch and steamers will begin today.
Around 200 launches will ply 41 river routes carrying the eid holidaymakers from June 7, said joint director of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority Arif Uddin. Of the Eid holidaymakers, 55 percent is expected to travel for their home destination by buses, 20 percent by train and 25 percent will go home travelling by water transports, including launch and steamers.
